

Brendon Eade scored a rare double on Saturday, after taking both the Claidhmor and the Targe events at the 2011 Colin Craig Claidhmor invitational. This is only the fourth time in the history of the event one piper has taken both events; Greg Wilson, Grame Bilsland and Stewart McKenzie being the others to complete the feat. Marion Horsburgh was runner up in the Piobaireachd, with Martin Frewen placing second in the MSRHJ.

Kiwi’s dominated over at the annual R U Brown competitions, held in Adelaide, Australia, with Stuart Easton, Katie Lawton and Tam McGirr taking top honours. (more…)

Richard Hawke, Davey Welsh and Stuart Easton won the top honours at the Hastings Highland Games on Easter Weekend. Richard Hawke won his first Clasp after winning the Gold Medal in the mid 1990′s. Davey Welsh took his first top New Zealand prize by winning the Gold Medal in a class of 17. Stuart Easton claimed the overall A Grade prize, with Brendon Eade, Richard Hawke and Dr Angus McDonald. The 2012 National Pipe Band Championships are confirmed to be held in Tauranga on the 9th and 10th of March. The city last held the Nationals in 1994. The Tauranga Domain will be the venue for the competition events with a street march course within the CBD area. (more…)
