As part of the 2014 update to PBNews, we are launching the beginnings of our Results Aggregator as part of our broadening service to the piping, drumming and pipe band communities in New Zealand. This results aggregator will offer readers the opportunity to delve into the history of our movement and explore who won what in what years.
Released on the 14th of November, so far the lists include the grade one NZ Pipe Band Champions list, the Gold Medal, the Silver Chanter and the Clasp to the Silver Chanter. As we develop this aggregator, we hope to include a fuller range of results from minor and major pipe band contests, as well as solo events throughout New Zealand.
“Often results are put up on websites and not publicised, and this leads them to being harder to find. What we aim to do with present-day results is to receive them, aggregate them, and put them up as fast as we can. But there’s a void where old results do not see the light of day, and there is some really important history in there which deserves to be brought out and shown to the next generation of pipers and drummers in New Zealand.
“The hope is that readers will be able to access a greater range of information more quickly which will hopefully educate, entertain and inform people.”
