Best Contest of 2013
World Pipe Band Championships
There is no other spectacle on earth like it. The World Pipe Band Championships draws in over 50,000 people to Glasgow Green to watch the world’s best go head-to-head over two days. This year was no different, and the added twist of all grade one bands playing in a qualifying round on Saturday meant there was more for the punters to enjoy, and it meant all grade one bands got the opportunity to strut their stuff against some of the worlds best. The online streaming was again top notch and provided people from around the world the opportunity to indulge in both Saturday and Sunday grade one events.
Some comments from our experts:
- Nothing comes close to the worlds – though, palmy [Palmerston North] may come close!
- Two days made it something more special – we got to see more quality music, and better quality music. Everyone got to perform their best when they wanted, and it led to a very high quality competition.
