8th August – Manawatu places third in the MSR, fifth in the Medley. By all accounts the band is on track to perform extremely well at the Worlds next weekend.
8th August – City of Timaru stuns at North Berwick – 3rd out of 15 bands . The Band impresses judges and the crowd at one of the largest pre-worlds pipe band competition. All eyes are on them next weekend to go out and represent New Zealand well.
2nd August – City of Timaru has a cautious start to their campaign – 9th out of 12. Pipe Major Scott Shannon unable to play due to ailment on the leg from the plane – however the band went out and performed for their first time on Scottish Soil.
PBNews, along with many across the country and around the world, will be watching closely on the 15th of August to see who claims the World Championship title. Will SFU win a consecutive title? Or will Field Marshal – with a near-perfect win record this season – take it from their hands? Or will we see another band come up and pip them both at the post?

For the first time ever, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) will stream the World Pipe Band Championships live on the internet, Pipes|Drums reports today.
In a statement to Pipes|Drums, Grigor Stirling, Producer of Sport Programming, said that the Grade 1 Qualifier, MSR and Medleys will be covered, and that the March-Past and the prize-giving ceremony will both be broadcast live via the Internet.
This recognises the interest in the World Pipe Band Championships as the premier event for the pipe band communtiy world-wide.
PBNews will be reporting the action from the Worlds, live as it happens, and will endeavour to bring you results as they happen.
