Updated: Recordings now available. Auckland and Districts won the Grade 1 Set and Medley to take the Grade 1 Aggregate at the National Pipe Band Championships in Masterton on the weekend. They received the Drumming Prize and the Ensemble Prize. Manawatu were runner up. Canterbury Caledonian won the Street March and the Kitto Cup for Flourishing.
In Grade 2, newly upgraded City of Invercargill won the event over Temuka and St. Andrews College. Grade 3 was won by Manawatu Scottish Society. Grade 4 was won by the South Canterbury Pipe Band. St. Andrews College claimed the Juvenile grade for the 5th year in a row.
Grade 4 Drumming was inaccurately announced as being won by the City of Tauranga, which was later corrected to read correctly as the South Canterbury Highland Pipe Band.
Master Score Sheets were not available to Grade 1 Bands until later Saturday Night, when they were posted on the internet.
