Auckland wins Palmerston North; Canterbury pips Auckland at the post for Drumming

Auckland and District have taken out the second major Grade 1 contest of the season, putting Canterbury Caledonian into second place, and Manawatu into third. Manawatu have won the contest for the past 9 years. Canterbury also claimed the Drumming and the Ensemble prize.

In Grade 2, Manawatu Scottish Society Development Band took top honours, whilst Horowhenua won Grade 3. In Grade 4, Scots College managed a win in trying conditions, and Manawatu Scottish #3 took the Juvenile event.

Grade 1 MSR

1st Auckland and District (1,1,3,2)

2nd Manawatu Scottish (2,2,1,4)

3rd Canterbury Caledonian (3,3,2,1)

4th NZ Police (4,4,4,3)

Judges: Bain McGregor, Phil Mair (Piping), Craig Meinsmith (Ensemble), Scott Birrell (Drumming)

Grade 1 Medley

1st Auckland and District (4,1,1,1)

2nd Canterbury Caledonian (2,3,2,2)

3rd Manawatu Scottish (1,2,4,3)

4th NZ Police (3,4,3,4)

Judges: Brian Niven, Iain Blakely (Piping), Reid Maxwell (Ensemble), Wayne Hobbs (Drums)
