It is with pleasure that the Canterbury Caledonian Society Pipe Band
announce that James Laughlin will be taking up the position of Drum Sergeant
with the Band. James is a two time World Solo Champion in the Juvenile
Section 1, a semi finalist at the Adult World Solos and the 2007 winner of
the Professional aggregate Solo Trophy in British Columbia.James has been a member of Simon Fraser University since 2004, enjoying the
World Drum Corps title in 2004 & 2008 and also winning the World Pipe Band
Championships with the band in 2008.James is the founder of http://www.come2drum.com which is a great resource for
drummers wanting world-class tuition online.James and Lisa will be moving to Christchurch, New Zealand soon after the
2009 Worlds and will be employed by St Andrew’s College. The St Andrew’s
College Pipe Band is recognised as New Zealand premier College and Juvenile
Band and who recently won Grade 2 at the New Zealand Pipe Band
Championships.James appointment is a further development in the Canterbury Caledonian
Society’s Pipe Band’s drive as they prepare for the World Championships in
2010. Late last year the Band appointed Richard Hawke as their Pipe Band
Director who also is Pipe Band Director at St Andrew’s College
