Queens Birthday 2009

Stuart Easton

Stuart Easton was the victor at the Queens Birthday Solo Piping championships in the weekend. Queens Birthday is one of the last opportunities for pipers travelling to Scotland to air their tunes. The Dunedin Gold Medal, a Piobaireachd competition based on the list from Hastings, was won by Richard Hawke. Marion Horsburgh was 2nd. The Dunedin Silver Medal was won by Ben Murray.

In the Qualifying Aurora MSR, Liam Kernaghan won the event and Richard Hawke won the Aurora Premier Event.

Richard Cox took the B Grade, winning the Hornpipe & Jig, 6/8 March and the Strathspey and Reel. Ben Murray was runner up in B Grade. The Under 21 Aggregate was won by Jamie Hawke, taking the Piobaireachd and coming 2nd in the Strathspey and Reel.
