Greg Wilson and Brian Switalla both enjoyed significant wins at the annual Hastings Highland Games in the weekend. The 60th Anniversary of the Games peaked with record numbers entering in all piping events. Wilson won the Gold Clasp (for former winners of the Gold Medal) on the Friday evening, with Switalla the runner up. Switalla also won most points A Grade throughout the weekend. The Gold Clasp field was the largest in many years.
The Gold Clasp did not end until 12:30am, and the judges did not retire until 1am.
Scott Kennedy won the Gold Medal event that attracted a significantly larger field than usual. Liam Kernaghan was second, and Tom Glover was third.
Angus Hawke won the Silver Medal, with Ben Murray second, Simon Fraser third and George Stick fourth.
