City of Dunedin, Scottish Society take South Island Championship

The City of Dunedin and the Scottish Society of New Zealand pipe band’s won the overall prizes at the South Island Championships at Dunedin this weekend. City of Invercargill won grade three unopposed. The events in grade two were shared around between Dunedin, Temuka and Canterbury Caledonian, and Scottish Society and Canterbury Caledonian G4 shared the spoils in grade four. This contest is the first time there has been a trial of the new street march rules adopted in the last round of RNZPBA remits. In total, 11 judges adjudicated the street march with some variance across all grades.
